Last month we asked you for some input with respect to our sustainability goals and web site redesign. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Here is a summary of the responses.
Top three priorities areas for the committee to explore:
1. Consumption and Waste
2. Healthy Living
3. Sustainable Food
Many great ideas for projects and new efforts including a school garden, looking at food choices/options, solar panels, greenhouse, zero waste day, and using/tracking data to drive change.
Web Site ReDesign:
Most frequently used resources on current site:
1. School Directory
2. Upcoming Events
3. PowerSchool Link/Information
Many great ideas for the new site including staff bios, cafe menu, mobile-friendly, board minutes, and better organization of content and resources.
Both our Sustainability and Web Site committees will use your feedback to help guide their work over the rest of this year. In addition, students and staff input will be considered.

The portal will reopen with access to Quarter 2 electronic report cards on Friday January 27th. If you would also like a paper copy of your student's report card please contact Deb Movizzo at email@example.com or (603) 643-6040.
-On Wednesday, January 25th, 7th and 8th grade students will attend a presentation by author Rebecca Stead. Rebecca Stead won the Newbery Award in 2010 for her book When You Reach Me. Her other books are First Light, Liar and Spy, and Goodbye Stranger, which is on Vermont's Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award List for 2016. This opportunity was made possible with help from the Howe Library and Woodstock Union Junior/Senior High School, which organized the author visit. We are excited about this great opportunity for our students!
-The RMS Counseling Office is pleased to welcome substitute counselor Ms. Wendy Kares to the counseling staff beginning January 17th. Ms. Kares will be covering Mrs. Powers' maternity leave through April vacation. Ms. Kares formerly worked as a middle school counselor at Hartford Memorial Middle School. Ms Kares will be covering the A-K (last names) students at RMS, and will be available Monday through Thursday at RMS. Please welcome Ms. Kares and do not hesitate to be in touch. -Technology in the Classroom with Marty Warren:
The new year brings new opportunities and this week I’ve been working with our music teacher, Mr. Josh Hall to get our new music studio ready to go for next quarter. We’ve been loading software on computers setting up keyboards, mixing boxes and headphones for each station.
This new elective is called Music Studio and the startup equipment was funded by a grant from the Friends of Hanover Norwich Schools. The course will focus on beat creation, song production and learning how to mix sounds.
We’ll be using Presonus Studio One 3 Pro, a complete Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), which is an incredibly intuitive interface. It is our hope that students will see the joy of making original music and explore the possibilities this technology makes available to us.
