+Principal’s Corner

Dear Parents/Guardians,

School opens for students this Wednesday. We are excited to welcome your child back to school and hope they are excited about being back.

Staff will be working Monday and Tuesday in a variety of preservice meetings and professional development sessions. We have planned busy days balanced with time for individual teachers to prepare their classrooms to welcome the students on Wednesday. Please do know that staff may have limited availability Monday and Tuesday. You can, of course, contact us in the office and we will do our best to help you with your questions.

After a summer of working in a largely empty building, working through spreadsheets and documents on a computer, and a myriad of quiet tasks I can tell you that I am more than excited to see the building filled with students and teachers. I'm looking forward to visiting classrooms and learning alongside our students, joining in a pick-up game in the gym, and sitting down for a lunch conversation with our students. There is nothing quite like being surrounded by the positive energy of young people.

On Wednesday morning, with the help of our student council, I plan to speak to the students and staff about the importance of "standing up." Standing up for each other, for ourselves, for our community, and for an important cause among other things. I plan to recognize many aspects of our wonderful school and also to challenge each member of our community to make us even better. While we have much to be proud of I know that there is more we can do with and for each other. I know our students and staff will surpass even my greatest expectations for the school year. I'll share more about our welcome in next week's Friday Focus.

If you have any last back to school questions this weekend please do not hesitate to contact me via email michaellepene@hanovernorwichschools.org. I'll do my best to get back to you quickly. Otherwise, enjoy the beautiful summer weather!

Sincerely,
Michael Lepene
