Principal's Corner

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The New Hampshire Department of Education has recently released score reports for the Smarter Balanced Assessments in Math and Language Arts taken during the 2014-2015 school year. We have put individual score reports along with a letter from Superintendent Frank Bass and a NHDOE help guide in the mail today. You should receive them in the next few days. If you do not, please contact the office so that we can help you get the information.

We are in the process of analyzing SBAC test results at the school, department, grade, and student level as a school. While the test is only a one-time snapshot we hope that the results can provide an additional data point to incorporate into our larger assessment of our school program and intervention strategies. Like with NECAP testing, we find that students in the Dresden School District do very well as compared to state averages. Still, we are focused on how we can improve and intervene with the goal of improving outcomes for all students. This testing, along with other local assessments, should help us to identify new opportunities and adjustments.

-6th grade parents:

  • Please stop by the 6th grade hallway before the December 3rd Band and Chorus concert and enjoy the 2015 Neuroscience Museum featuring this year's Designer Brain models.
  • Field Trip: 6th grade students will be visiting Friday, December 4th

​-Classical Music Showcase UpdateOur plans to host a Classical Music Show on December 13th have been put on hold as we ran into a scheduling conflict with another event on that date.  We will be putting our heads together to see if we can come up with another option. Thanks, Mr LaCrosse

-Reminder: No RMS Homework Club/Afterschool Study on Tuesday, November 24.

Special Recognition
-RMS Robotics: Congratulations to our four teams that participated in last Saturday's regional tournament at Dartmouth College.  Three of our teams (Wastenauts, TWACA, and Trash Turtles) will compete at the NH State Championship in December.  Look for the new trophies in the display case soon as well as some lunchtime robot performances in the lobby.
Community Calendar and Activities
-Old Running Shoe CollectionAre you stumbling over a myriad of muddy shoes in your entry way? Are you ready to throw out old sneakers? Think Global! Recycle your 'gently used' running shoes to help the planet.
The Upper Valley Running Club has partnered with the MORE (Modular Organic Regenerative Environments) Foundation Group to recycle old shoes into money to plant tree seedlings around the world.
The Running club is collecting shoes this Sunday, November 22nd, 2015 at the registration table at the Hanover Turkey Trot 10K (race time 1 pm). 
If you are unable to bring shoes to the Turkey Trot, you can bring them to the Richmond Middle School, Mrs. Wonsavage's room #708, through November 24th. See the MORE Foundation Group's website for information about their projects:

-45 Juried crafters from VT, NH, and ME will be at the Pods for the Pulpit Crafts Fair at Tracy Hall in Norwich November 27 and 28 from 10:00 am to 4:00 PM.  Proceeds benefit Listen, Cover, The Haven, and the sponsoring organization, The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Upper Valley.  One of our teachers, Ms. Wallis, will be there with two of her books - one for children and one for adults.  Come by!
