Dear 8th Grade Parents-
morning, we, the 8th grade English Department and team, are going to take the entire grade to the Black Center at Dartmouth for a command performance of William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice as filmed in The Globe Theater, itself.
We will be leaving immediately after attendance is taken in the morning and, weather permitting, walking to the Black Center. After the film, we will be riding the bus back to RMS and will be returning in time for lunch. The afternoon will consist of regularly scheduled classes.
As of right now, the weather looks good for our walk. Please remind your student to wear shoes appropriate for this approximately 1 1/2 mile walk. Also, while we have made arrangements for those students who might show up somewhat late for attendance, please try to make sure your student is on time for school . If a student arrives too late, we have made other arrangements for them here at RMS.
And finally, if your student will need to be picked up for an appointment or other reason, we will be unable to get them out of the film other than at the scheduled intermission without prior notification. If you know that this will be the case, please let both your student’s home room teacher and the front office know before school .
We are very excited about this opportunity, and are looking forward to sharing it with your students.
Thanks for your help in making it run as smoothly as possible.
