A message from RICHMOND MIDDLE SCHOOL
Good afternoon. I hope that you and your children enjoy this last weekend before the start of school. I know in my family we are busily checking school supply lists, transportation plans, filling out school forms and doing all that last minute prep for the new year. Hopefully, we will take some time as a family to relax and enjoy a last bit of this beautiful summer as well.
Please double-check the start of school schedule and upcoming dates. Let us know if you have any questions.
As so often happens with calendars we already have a change. Our Fall Open House has been moved from . We made the move in an effort to be sensitive to our families observing Rosh Hashanah. In addition, we made our best attempt to find a new date that did not conflict with other SAU-70 evening events. I know that shifts in plans like this can be difficult and appreciate your flexibility and understanding. As you look ahead at the events for the year please feel free to reach out to me with potential conflicts. While I cannot guarantee we can make a change I am happy to take a look.
I would like to take a little space in this week's newsletter to introduce our new staff for the 14-15 school year. You can find a complete listing of RMS staff on our web page.

All of us at RMS are excited about meeting our new students morning and beginning what we know will be a wonderful school year. As always, please let us know how we can help.
+RMS Quick Poll
Last week we asked you for feedback on our summer communications. We greatly appreciate the responses and suggestions and will look to implement some of the ideas. Twenty-seven of twenty-eight responses indicated a strongly agree or agree with communications being effective and timely. Some of the suggestions and comments included:
-Appreciation for the postcards sent directly to students.
-Encouraging continued use of social media.
-Providing online form submissions options (We are working on this one and agree! I created an online option for our dance chaperone form as a test and we will also be making our report cards available online this year).
-A need for more clarity on what forms should be mailed back, hand-delivered and or returned by students.
This week's poll question:
Would you be interested in RMS offering occasional weekend activities that explore our local area such as a hike?
