RMS Tuesday Focus 11/24/2015

+Principal's Corner

Dear Parents/Guardians,

At a recent Dresden School Board meeting board members and administrators discussed a chapter from the book "Overloaded and Underprepared: Strategies for Stronger Schools and Healthy, Successful Kids" by Pope, Brown, and Miles (2015). Our focus for the evening was chapter seven, Creating a Climate of Care. Here is a short excerpt from that chapter:

"We looked at the research for protective factors for kids - those things that every kid needs in order to thrive physically, mentally, and academically, and we boiled these down to three main categories for well-being. Our mantra is every kid needs PDF (playtime, downtime, and family-time) every day."

As we enter Thanksgiving break we hope that you and your family can enjoy some quality PDF. For our staff and students, taking a break is an important part of the school year. They have worked hard through the first quarter of the school year and should be proud of what we have accomplished together. It is with the purpose of encouraging and supporting some "PDF" that RMS has committed to "No-HW holidays." The response to this effort over the last few years has been overwhelmingly positive.

However you plan on spending the next few days we wish you relaxation, joy, and safety. Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,
Michael Lepene
Principal

Sophia Nadeau and her newspaper team have produced another great issue.  Ask your children if they have a copy or check it out online, through the link on the RMS Website.
