Ms. Wonsavage 7th Grade English

Welcome, oh readers, writers, scientists, and mathematicians, athletes, gamers, artists, amazing human beings all!

This year in English class we will expand and strengthen your understanding of how to use words, syllables, sentences and paragraphs, so you can effectively communicate what you want. Because whatever you want to do, and have to do, you must be able to read deeply, write clearly, speak persuasively, and listen intensely.

We will read many different types of literature, so you can know what you like and why, and know what you don’t like and why.

We will listen to movies, plays, speeches, poetry, and stories, and discover how context, tone, speed, and volume of the spoken word affects you, and how you can speak to effect change in others.

We will write to persuade, narrate, and inform, figure things out, find rhythm and rhythm.

We’ve got a lot to accomplish, so:

  • Ask Questions – about life, homework, the Universe, school and our classroom, anything, because there is no such thing as a bad question.
  • Tell me Stuff – about life, your homework, the Universe, school and our classroom, anything, because I can’t be a better teacher or person if I don’t get your input.
  • Email me if you have ANY questions and/or concerns:  dorcaswonsavage@hanovernorwichschools.org.  I will try to respond to you as soon as possible, but it may not be until 8am on the next school day.
  • Check this Teacher Site on the RMS webpage on a nightly basis.   I'll be using this site to help you keep track of assignments. I will also be sharing important information related to our work in class. Checking this site should become a habit for you, like checking your email to see what new and exciting things might have been posted since you last looked!
